Jim and Mary Winston

The Winston Family Foundation was established in honor of Jim and Mary Winston. Jim was an investor, real estate developer and businessman. He and Mary loved the Northeast Florida community and the people in it. Their faith drove them to generously give their time and resources, and together they made a profound impact on the world. The Winston Family Foundation honors their values and legacy by continuing the important work they started.

The Winston Family Foundation is dedicated to investing in human flourishing through the interconnected health of people, wildlife, and the environment.

Our Values

We believe all life is connected.

The health of humans, wildlife, and ecosystems are interdependent. Enhancing one benefits the others.

We believe in a holistic approach to well-being.

Human flourishing involves physical, mental, developmental and social health.

We believe nature is everywhere.

“Nature” is a term that applies to any organism found in the natural world – from dirt and bugs, to wild animals and forests.

We believe regular access to nature and meaningful outdoor experiences are necessities, not privileges.

Spending time in nature is critical to human flourishing, therefore, all people should have regular access to nature.

We believe when children flourish, a self-sustaining cycle of positive change begins.

Connecting people with nature and with one another positively impacts entire communities, ecosystems, regions, and beyond.

We believe the consequences of the indoor childhood are serious and urgent.

The physical and mental health crisis impacting young people demands immediate action.

We believe too much screen time is harmful to children and adolescents.

Too much time spent indoors and on screens is fueling obesity, loneliness, anxiety and depression among children and adolescents.
